The Birmingham & Midland Institute was the location of the latest Instameet. Located in a Grade II* listed building, The Birmingham & Midland Institute has been a part of Birmingham’s cultural life for over 150 years, originally founded by an Act of Parliament in 1854 for the ‘Diffusion and Advancement of Science, Literature and Art amongst all Classes of Persons resident in Birmingham and Midland Counties’.
The Birmingham & Midland Institute hosts a range of cultural and educational activities such as arts and science lectures, exhibitions and concerts. We were given unprecedented access to this striking building which allowed us to take photos of the libraries which included The Birmingham Library which was founded in 1779, lecture theatres, cafe and private members room. Here’s a few of my snapshots of the day.
